Environment monitoring and scenario controlling
Today it is not sufficient to develop a strategy one-time and implement it by means of a strategic controlling. More important is the setup of strategic early warning with reference to constant transforming external conditions. This enables to control the validity of reached assumptions as well as the identification of new challenges and threats.
The observation of qualitative developments within the strategic early warning process leads to an increased strategic flexibility. Sensitive perception of new customer needs or an intense technology observation as part of the strategic early warning supports an early realization of innovative product and business ideas. The strategic early warning could encompass two sub processes:

A significant aspect is the continuous observation of the
environment by means of trend management. Moreover, the scenario controlling provides the opportunity to estimate the relevance and actuality of existing scenarios and could therefore be described as a broaden ‘future radar’.
