Every Saturday millions of people were cast a spell by football – Who wins? Who is on top? Who demotes? The national favourite sport is integrated in a network of economic and social aspects. This is shown by high money transfers, fan riots and
major events like the football World Cup as well as the diverse reactions concerning the death of Robert Enke. So what is the future of football? Three reasons exist for the ScMI, to answer this question: At first it is thematically sophisticated, due to the fact that football and his surrounding is characterised by complex and varied insecurities. Secondly, the ScMI AG disposes first experiences in the area of scenario creation for a football club. And the third aspect was the personal interest of a football interesting futurologist. Thus, six scenarios for the “Future of football” were developed:■ Scenario 1: Football combines national sport with growth

■ Scenario 3: Staged football beyond the National league
■ Scenario 4: Tradition and regulation protects the national sport football
■ Scenario 5: Amateurs beat the professional football
■ Scenario 6: Football on the bench
