Students develop scenarios for the power-technology industry

After the successful second ScMI Future School in cooperation with the University of Paderborn, ScMI has expanded and intensified its collaboration with regional universities.

Since October 2012, the ScMI future experts are accompanying international students at the Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe – University of Applied Sciences. Students from the Lemgo work together with exchange students from Italy on a project about the future of the Power-Technology-Industry. Within the scope of the master’s degree Product Engineering and Management the students have the possibility to receive a double degree in Germany and Italy and thus improve their position in the labor market.

Embedded into the course of study is the class of Strategic Management, a cooperative lecture between Prof. Dr. Dresselhaus, Holter Regelarmaturen GmbH & Co. KG (HORA), and ScMI.

HORA was founded in 1967 and employs more than 300 employees at their location in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock, Germany. The company’s vision is to be a competent and reliable partner to their customers and additionally an attractive employer for their employees. In order to grow profitably, to create the highest value to the customer, and consequently take one of the top positions in this specific industry, a long-term and future-robust alignment is essential and unavoidable.

The appropriate method for shaping the future offers ScMI’s Scenario-Management. The systematic and participatory process is used successfully since 1998 in a variety of practical projects. Currently at the Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe – University of Applied Sciences, the students understand and learn how to utilize these methods effectively throughout an intensive collaboration with ScMI’s consultants. This knowledge enables the students to describe different political, economic, and social environments for HORA and furthermore provide the company with strategic recommendations. This gain of knowledge will help HORA to navigate into their future and to continue to operate successfully in the power technology industry.
