Scenario processes

How to read and update the map of the future

In this phase the developed strategy for the client is being reassessed using the scenarios. Together with the client we develop opportunities for a future-robust update of the strategic orientation of the company.

Since the relevant markets and environments of a company might change, it is the goal of the scenario review to pinpoint:

  • which changes have taken place since the beginning of the scenario development;
  • whether new or changed trends have been observed in the developed scenarios and
  • which consequences for the client have arisen from the identified changes in the markets or environments.
The scenario review can also ascertain whether there are new key factors and trends, which have not been taken into account in the developed scenarios. Such a review can be conducted during a 1.5-day workshop before which the participants fill out a survey prepared by ScMI AG. These results from the survey facilitate the classification and ranking of the developed scenarios.

Another goal of the scenario review is to transfer the developed knowledge about the future to other individuals as well and to facilitate the continuous work of the client with scenarios in the sense of a strategic early warning process.

The scenario review is used:
  • To implement scenarios in the framework of the early warning process .
  • To scrutinize developed market and external scenarios, for example in the framework of the monitoring of a strategic process.
  • To update already existing scenarios.
