The commercial vehicle market is a winner of the globalisation but it is also affected by the financial and economical crisis. The total market decreases but the consolidation process of the transport business is increasing.
The life cycle of vehicle generations in the commercial business lasts about 10 to 15 years. During this time the basic concept stays the same. For strategic decisions and the product planning it is necessary to think about future operating conditions, customer requirements and market developments.The working group "Research and Innovation" of the IHK Heilbronn-Franken suggested to implement a scenario project for the commercial vehicles market. KS Kolbenschmidt, MAN Nutzfahrzeuge, Knorr-Bremse, ZF Friedrichshafen, Robert Bosch and MAGNA Powertrain were part of the project. They developed environmental scenarios for the commercial vehicles market, for the truck division and for the bus area.
