Write your own future
Do you love science fiction? Or writing itself? In that case we have an idea: Our NewGlobal scenarios need illustration. And because they are global scenarios, we need as many different perspectives as possible. Your chance: Simply take one of the scenarios as a basis and write a future story from your neighborhood, your region, your country. A jury of futurologists, consultants and science fiction authors will then select the best stories, which we will publish in an "extended version" of our study report.
How do you imagine the New Global Scenarios?
Scenarios become particularly understandable and vivid when they are described as narratives from the future. We would love to read your story about one New Global Scenario you selected. A panel of renowned futurists & authors will look at the text submitted and select a story for each scenario, which will then be published in the expanded edition of the „New Global” scenario study.
With our writing contest we address all interested individuals from across the world, including scenario thinkers and futurists, students and everyone who’s always wanted to be a (science fiction) writer. No matter when you learned about our “New Global“ Scenario project: We are keen to read your personal and creative stories regarding the future of your choice. It might be the most likely one from your point of view, or the one you would love to see coming true in the future?
Your story should bring us into the future of the scenario chosen: How does it feel like to live 2035 in this world? What chances and challenges result from it? The more creative you get, the better. The stories can be anecdotal and present individual perspectives – you are free to write in your own style and select themes of personal importance.
And here are the few additional remarks:
- We are looking for stories with 1,600 to 1,800 words (approx. 10,000 characters).
- Do not try to rewrite the entire scenario again. Choose individual aspects and turn them into a personal story. Or simply write a story that fits into that scenario.
- There are no stylistic guidelines.
- The year 2035 (for which the scenario was developed) should be the temporal pivot of the story.
- Deadline 15th of January 2023 (sent to @This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
