New Founder’s Prize of the Knowledge Factory in corporation with the ‘Jugend forscht’

In the context of the Knowledge Factory Forum a main prize for entrepreneurship was awarded for the first time within the framework of the ‘Jugend forscht Competition’ on June 8th. With this regard, the chairmanship of the jury initiated by the Knowledge Factory and the BASF was incumbent upon Dr. Andreas Siebe, member of the executive board of the ScMI.

The first award winner is the young researcher Rieke-Marie Hackbarth. She received this distinction for her Jugend Forscht Project entitled ‘Automatisch sich selbst desinfizierendes Stethoskop’ (Automatic self-disinfecting stethoscope). She will now be provided with support, in case  she wants her idea to be implemented in a company start-up. Alongside Dr. Andreas Siebe, the jury consisted of Mrs. Johanna Coleman, Dr. Uwe Hartwig, Dr. Alfred Odendahl and Prof. Dr. Burkhard Schwenker.

The Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, Sigmar Gabriel, commented on the 10th anniversary of the Knowledge Factory: ‘The Knowledge Factory is a true success story of the German Economy. It initiated many attractive projects with great commitment and engaged into  corporations with education providers – from kindergarten  to university. By means of this variety, the economic education can focus in a targeted manner on the pupils’ interests.’

Subsequently, more than 200 participants developed objectives in a ‘World Café’ that should be considered by the Knowledge Factory in the future in order to continue support for better networking of education and entrepreneurial thinking and actions in Germany.
